Malakai are a two-piece band from
Bristol ,England . They comprise of Gee (vocals) and Scott (music ). Their sound is a mix of beats and samples, drawing on a wide range of influences from dub to sixties pop, all tied together by Gee’s distinctive voice.fact|date=August 2008Discovered by
Geoff Barrow from the Bristol based band,Portishead , to date Malakai have released alimited edition [gramophone record| [12”] on Barrow’sInvada Records record label , called "Fading World". This track was used as the music to accompany the "I Count:Stop Climate Chaos " videoFact|date=November 2007 that first aired at the 2007Glastonbury Festival . Directed by award winningGerald McMorrow , the film features many celebrities stating their support for Stop Climate Chaos, includingRichard Coyle ,Billy Elliot starJamie Bell , andSophia Myles ."Fading World" was followed by their major label debut "EP 1" on
Island Records in September 2007. The lead track from "EP 1", entitled "The Battle" wasBBC Radio 1 DJZane Lowe 's "Single of the Week" for the week commencingh 9 July 2007.
