The American Heritage Center (AHC) is an archival
library located at theUniversity of Wyoming in Laramie. The library housesspecial collections , rare books, manuscripts, artwork, and other historical documents and artifacts.Established in 1945, the library specializes in historical documents relating to
Wyoming and theAmerican west , but has collections pertaining to a wide range of subjects from across theUnited States and the world. The library claims to have obtained over convert|90000|cuft|m3 of material, and includes the Toppan Library of rare books, which itself contains over 40,000 items. The facility claims itself to be among the most important historical repositories pertaining to the American West.The AHC is located, along with the University's art museum, at the Centennial Complex, which was designed by
Antoine Predock and opened in 1993. The facility is designed for hands-on research, and the University claims that more students do research at the AHC that do students at similar repositories atYale University ,Princeton University , andHarvard University .
