Peoria, Illinois on March 30, 1975, young Ben moved with his family to Maryland in 1977. He graduated fromEleanor Roosevelt High School in 1993 and then attended theUniversity of North Carolina at Greensboro where he got hisB.A. in economics & political science in 1998. Barnes later graduated from theUniversity of Baltimore School of Law with aJ.D. in 2003 and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 2004.
