Shefford Woodlands

Shefford Woodlands

Shefford Woodlands is a village in the English county of Berkshire. It is situated in West Berkshire, near the villages of Great Shefford and Wickham and next to the M4. It has a small church, which holds services at Christmas and other special occasions, and the Pheasant pub and a childcare centre are just outside the village.

History

Shefford Woodlands is said to be where 'Wild Will Darell' was killed after his horse saw a vision of a burning baby. He had earlier killed a baby born at his house by throwing it into a fire, but had escaped hanging due to family connections.
