IBMX, isobutylmethylxanthine, is a non-specific inhibitor of phosphodiesterases (PDEs) (IC50 = 2-50 μM) [J.A.Beavo et al. "Mol. Pharmacol." 1970 6 597] except PDE8 and PDE9 [Soderling and Beavo "Current Opinion in Cell Biol." 2000 12 174] . It also possesses adenosine antagonist activity. [Bruns et al. "Mol.
