- Ruza
Ruza ( _ru. Руза) is a town and the administrative center of
Ruzsky District inMoscow Oblast ,Russia , located on theRuza River (atributary of theMoskva River ) km to mi|100 west ofMoscow . Population: ru-census|p2002=13516|p1989=14643Ruza was first mentioned in 1339 as a part of the
Principality ofZvenigorod . It became a part ofMuscovy in the early 16th century. The town was afortress , which protected Moscow from the west.In the village of Kamenskoye, to the south of Ruza, a fortified church is preserved from the early 14th century. It is the oldest extant building in Moscow Oblast.
