The 100th (Prince of Wales's Royal Canadian) Regiment of Foot was raised in Canada in 1858 to serve in India as a Regular regiment. It was named after Prince Albert Edward, the future King Edward VII.
In 1875 it was considered the successor to the 100th Regiment of Foot (Prince Regent's County of Dublin Regiment), which had served in Canada, and received its Battle Honour of Niagara.
In 1881 it was joined with the 109th Regiment of Foot (Bombay Infantry) to form The Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians).
