Donation Pixel is an internet based charity organisation founded in 2006, with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. They aim to provide support for low-profile causes, and to list the names and logos of donors on their website to give them visibility. They do not conduct the actual field-work themselves, they only contract existing NGOs to do the work, while Donation Pixel gets donors for the project. They aim to be neutral in matters of religion or politics.
The organisation is led by Pierre Schifferli.
Their current projects, as of 2007, consist of:
- construction of typhoon-resistant housing near Vietnam's Ho Gui village, in Tam Giang Dong commune, Nam Can district, Ca Mau Province, which was devastated in 1997 by Typhoon Linda. The work will be done by the Vietnamese Red Cross, and the Vietnamese Government.
- construction of water conveyance systems for 5 isolated villages in China: three in a group called Tsarang, and two in a group called Walangou, in Hualong Canton, Qinghai Province, People’s Republic of China. The work will be done by London-based Appropriate Technology Asia, and Village Committees in China.
- agricultural training for young farmers in Kyrgyzstan, suffering as a result of the collapse of the Soviet Union, in two schools: Kochkor and Ottuk in the Naryn Oblast. The work will be done by Helvetas in conjunction with the Kyrgyz government.
- artificial limbs for disabled people in Bangalore and Vellore in India, working with Mobility India, Christian Medical College, and the ICRC Special Fund for the Disabled.
- assorted small projects.
Their website includes ads for those who donate, as well as Amazon book links which they may receive money from.
