Darrell Martinie

Darrell Martinie

Darrell Martinie (1943 – July 26, 2006), aka The Cosmic Muffin, was a Boston, Massachusetts-based AFA certified professional astrologer and radio personality.

Martinie worked on-air for more than 30 years, at times nationally syndicated but primarily and most memorably at WBCN in Boston and WBLM in Portland. His television credits include featured appearances on the David Susskind Show, ABC's 20/20 and a daily appearance on the local Boston "The Paul Benziquin Show". His nickname "The Cosmic Muffin" was given to him by Charles Laquidara, and taken from a National Lampoon "Radio Dinner" parody "Deteriorata". Martinie would end each broadcast with the phrase "It is a wise person who rules the stars, a fool who is ruled by them - Over and out." In 1993, then-Governor of Massachusetts, Bill Weld named Martinie "Official Astrologer of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts". Martinie died of cancer in 2006.[1]

His words "over and out" were the last to be heard on WBCN on August 12, 2009.
