In 1985, he was the winner of the firstArnold Denker Tournament of High School Champions. Fishbein was very active on the national and international chess circuit in the early 1990s, winning tournaments inChicago , as well asStavanger , Norway, andHerning , Denmark, among others. He became a grandmaster in 1992.Since 1993, Fishbein has worked in the securities industry. He traded
collateralized mortgage obligations atMorgan Stanley from 2005 to 2007 and is now a Portfolio Manager atCitigroup Alternative Investments.Fishbein and his wife, Lana, have three children: Ellen, Samuel, and Mitch.
