Vim (cleaning product)

:"This article is about the Vim line of cleaning products; for other meanings, see Vim (disambiguation)."

Vim is the name of a range of household cleaning products produced by Lever Brothers. [ [http://www.vim.ca/ "Vim"] at Unilever's Consumer Canada website] Vim scouring powder, one of the first products created by William Lever, first appeared in 1904 [Adrian Room, "Dictionary of trade name origins", Routledge, 1983, ISBN 0710201745] and was produced at Port Sunlight near Liverpool, England. The name Vim remained solely associated with the scouring powder until 1993 when a range of associated products was released.

Francis Bacon (painter) is reputed to have used Vim as a substitute for toothpaste. [http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2008/sep/09/bacon.art]

The name of the brand was probably taken from the word "vim", meaning "force, energy, vigour".
