Illinois 59 is a major four-lane arterial for most of its length, running parallel to and about five miles east of the
Fox River in Illinois. It is especially crowded in the suburbs of Naperville, West Chicago, Plainfield and Joliet. Most of Illinois 59 in that area is zoned commercially for about 5 miles (8 kilometers). Illinois 59 is the only numbered highway with aMetra station named after it on theBNSF line; this name differentiates the station from the main Naperville station further east on the line. [Metra.
