Aloysio de Andrade Faria

Aloysio de Andrade Faria (born 1921 in Belo Horizonte in the state of Minas Gerais) is a Brazilian banker. He is one of Forbes Magazine's "World's Richest People."

A physician by training, Faria entered early the financial business. In 1949 he succeeded his father, Clemente de Faria at the direction of the Banco da Lavoura, and transformed it into one of the most successful Brazilian banks, the Banco Real, which was later partly sold to the Netherlands-based ABN AMRO. It is now one of the five largest banks in Brazil. Faria remained in the area, by using the money to found still another bank, the Banco Alfa, already one of the ten largest and most successful banks in the country.
