The Battle of Ramsour's Mill took place on June 20, 1780 in North Carolina and was part of the southern campaign of the American Revolutionary War. About 400 American militia soldiers defeated 1,300 loyalist militia soldiers. The battle did not involve any regular army forces from either side and was a battle literally between neighbors. It is very significant in that it lowered the morale of the loyalists in the south, which weakened the strength of the British.
