The Campus

A regional campus of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Miami Hamilton was established in 1968 in Hamilton, Ohio. On Miami's regional campuses, students can earn an associate degree and/or complete the following baccalaureate degrees: Bachelor of Science in Nursing [1], Bachelor of Science in Applied Science in Engineering Technology [2], and the Bachelor of Integrative Studies [3]. Many MUH students also atend classes at Miami's main campus in Oxford, and vice versa. The regional campuses also offer continuing education courses for professional and personal development via the Corporate & Community Institute [4].

Miami University Hamilton has a current enrollment (2010) of approximately 12,500 students. Class sizes average 20 students and the average age of Miami Hamilton's student body is 23.

Miami University Hamilton has an open enrollment policy for first-time, first year students who have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Approximately 62 percent of students attend part-time. Many students are non-traditional and work at least part-time. [5]. Class scheduling is flexible, with evening and Saturday classes available to accommodate non-traditional students who are busy balancing family and job.

A licensed, on-site child care center offers affordable childcare for children of Miami Hamilton students, faculty and staff. [6] The Office of Learning Assistance offers tutoring services throughout the year, plus a number of workshops on topics including time management and exam preparation. [7]

Lecture Series & Campus Activities

Miami Hamilton is home to the Michael J. Colligan History Project which offers a wide variety of programs, lecture series, projects, and symposia that present a broad and diverse perspective on the people and events of America's past. Colligan Project events are funded in partnership with the Hamilton Community Foundation. In recent years, speakers have included historians Douglas Brinkley, Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, and Librarian of Congress, James H. Billington.

Other Miami Hamilton lecture series have brought speakers from the worlds of politics, science and journalism to the academic and wider community, including Lee H. Hamilton, Mario Cuomo, Stephen Jay Gould, E. O. Wilson, and Leonard Pitts.

Miami Hamilton's Artist Series provides an eclectic blend of musical entertainment throughout the academic year in Parrish Auditorium, a cozy 455-seat campus venue. Past performers include Ben Harper, Ralph Stanley, Alison Krauss, Los Lobos, Keb Mo, Jerry Douglas, Rhonda Vincent, and Cherryholmes. Tickets to the Artist Series may be purchased via the Miami University Ticket Office.[8].

Athletics

Miami University Hamilton is a member of the Ohio Regional Campus Conference and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), which provides smaller and regional colleges and universities around the U.S. the opportunity to compete at a national level.

The Harriers field competitive teams in men's baseball, women's fast-pitch softball, men's/women's basketball, golf, tennis and volleyball. [9]

The Harrier Baseball Program has been the University's most successful athletic program, claiming the ORCC Regular Season and Tournament Championship in 11 of the last 12 seasons.
