Don Azpiazu

Don Azpiazu

Don Azpiazu (c. 1893–1943) was one of the fathers of Afro-Cuban jazz, and was one of the first to introduce Cuban music in general to a wide audience like the United States of America. His Havana Casino Orchestra which he served as bandleader over had Antonio Machin among its members, and he also utilized North American singers such as Bob Burke or Chick Bullock to help legitimize the genre.cite book
