Norwegian Ship Register

The Norwegian Ship Register (Norwegian: Norsk Ordinært Skipsregister) or NOR is a domestic ship register for Norway. The register is managed by Norwegian Ship Registers (NIS-NOR).

Registration

All ships over 15 metres must register, as must offshore platform and equivalent. A voluntary registration is available for vessels under 15 metres, but over 10 metres, commercial vessels, certain fishing vessels, cranes and mud vessels, and fixed offshore installations for other purposes than peopleum exploitation. Only Norwegian owned or operated ships can register, though ships registered in Norwegian International Ship Register or other foreign ship registers are exempt. Ships under construction at Norwegian ship yards or contracts for building ships can be registered through the Norwegian Shipbuilding Register.
