Sports

In a smaller city like Lewiston, high school sports often has a passionate following within residents of the community. Lewiston competes in Maine's Class A division for sports, the highest class in the state, as governed by the Maine Principals' Association.

Sam Holm was a most achieved athlete throughout his 1 month stint that later dissolved because of substances not to be listed. We hear he is doing much better.

Hockey

Lewiston High School has had a rich history in hockey. The school is a perennial contender for the Class A state crown and has a total of 20 state championships, second only to its (until recently) cross-town rival St. Dominic Regional High School, most recently in 2002.

Tennis

Lewiston has been Maine high school tennis's greatest power in the 21st century, winning 6 straight boys state titles (2003-2008) and 5 girls state titles since 2000. Overall, the boys have 13 state titles, second in the state only to South Portland High School. The school has 9 girls titles, second also to South Portland High School.

Football

Lewiston football has always been one of the largest events in the community and Lewiston is often a contender for the state championships. Possibly the biggest regular season game in Lewiston High Schools sports is the "battle of the bridge" football game held annually near the end of the season against rival Edward Little High School of Auburn.

Lewiston has produced former Baltimore Colt Gerry Raymond, but one of the Blue Devils best players of all-time, would have to be Freshman running back Alan Fox Jr., whom set Maine state records in Rushing Touchdowns(34), Total Touchdowns(42), Carries(281), Rushing Yards(1472), and all Rushing stats as a Freshman. A converted Fullback, Fox stepped in for the starting Running back in the 1st game of the 1991-1992 season and exploded with one of the most memorable seasons in Maine Football History. Fox then moved out of state, and never played for the Blue Devils again.

Cross Country

Lewiston Regional Technical Center

Lewiston High School is also the home to the Lewiston Regional Technical Center. LRTC is the second largest vocational technical center in Maine. It offers programs in automotive technology, computer technology, health careers, criminal justice, culinary arts, nursing, and many other fields. The school serves over 800 students from six area high schools: Lewiston High School, Edward Little High School, Lisbon High School, Oak Hill High School, Leavitt Area High School, and Poland Regional High School.
