Lancaster High School is a high school in Lancaster, New York, United States of America. It is operated by the Lancaster Central School District. It is the largest public high school in Erie County, New York, and the second largest in Western New York. Its mascot is the Redskin. Lancaster High School offers many advanced courses, including several AP and Honors classes plus two career themed academies, Project Lead the Way ( [http://www.pltw.org pltw.org] ), and the Health/Careers Academy. The school has over 1600 students. In 2005, the school graduated 250 students.

The technology department offers many courses to students with different interests. The school offers five courses for the Project Lead the Way sequence, which is intended to prepare future engineering students for college and help them decide which type of engineering they would like to pursue. The department offers courses in other fields, such as computer graphics, media productions, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, basic electronics, computer science, architectural drafting, and home repair and maintenance.

Lancaster also has a large number of clubs. In 2008, the Science Olympiad team placed 7th among 33 teams at the regional competition. The Performing Arts Society's musical in 1999 was Fiddler on the Roof, and won the Kenny award for best musical that year. The school supports a team that participates in the MasterMinds academic competition within New York State. The Lancaster Marching Redskins has been successful in recent years, including a sweep of all categories in the Gator Bowl competition in January 2006. Other clubs include SADD, the Ski Club, Block L (Varsity Club), the Cayugan, and DECA.

ports teams

The School has many prominent sports teams, including Track and Field, Wrestling, Men and Women's Volleyball, Baseball, Tennis, Lacrosse, Soccer, Field Hockey, Ice Hockey, Cross Country, Swimming, Basketball, Gymnastics, Bowling, and Wrestling. The football team's traditional rival is the Depew Wildcats. However, Depew is not in the same division as Lancaster, so the game Lancaster/Depew game is more for fun than league standing. This does not however dampen the homecoming week spirits. Many events happen during this week, including the historical "Bonfire" held at Lancaster High School. Lancaster has an excellent volleyball program in both mens and womens, both having won state titles recently. The wrestling and track teams are also among the best in the section. The varsity hockey team has appeared in Super Sunday (The WNY Ice Hockey Championship) several times.
