Former Metro Express Routes

Former Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority Metro Express routes in Los Angeles County, California.

401 - Downtown Los Angeles - Pasadena via Allen Avenue

Line 401 provided service from Downtown Los Angeles to Pasadena via the Pasadena Freeway. Line 401 ran along Arroyo Parkway, Colorado Boulevard, and Allen Avenue. Line 401 was canceled as a result of the opening of the Metro Gold Line and was replaced by line 686, with the southern terminus at the Fillmore station.

402 - Park-n-Ride - Pasadena - Downtown Los Angeles

Line 402 was canceled in June 2001

406 - Los Angeles - Sunland via Pennsylvania Ave. Express

Replaced by LADOT Commuter Express 409 on June 26, 1995.

407 - Los Angeles - Sunland via La Crescenta Ave. Express

Replaced by LADOT Commuter Express 409 on June 26, 1995.

410 - Glenoaks Blvd. - Brand Blvd. - Downtown L.A.

Line 410 was canceled June 29, 2003. Alternative is Metro Local 92

412 - North Hollywood - Downtown L.A. Express

Line 412 was canceled June 26, 1995.

418 - Canoga Park - Van Nuys - Sun Valley - Los Angeles Express

Line 418 was renumbered 353 June 26, 2005. The express service was canceled June 29, 2003 when the line was realigned to terminate at North Hollywood Red Line Station, with the Metro Red Line replacing the express service.

420 - Panorama City - Van Nuys - North Hollywood - Hollywood - Los Angeles Express

Line 420 was renumbered 156 June 25, 2000. The express service was canceled June 13, 1999 when the line was extended to terminate at Vermont/Santa Monica Red Line Station, with the Metro Red Line replacing the express service.

422 - Thousand Oaks - Warner Center - Downtown L.A. Express

Line 422, while technically a Metro line, has been operated by LADOT as Commuter Express since its creation February 16, 1998.

424 - Canoga Park - Warner Center - Ventura Blvd. Local - Los Angeles Express

Line 424 was renumbered 150 in June 25, 2000 and realigned to terminate at Universal City Red Line Station, with the Metro Red Line replacing the express service.

425 - Ventura Blvd. Limited-Downtown L.A. Express

Line 425 provided express service to Downtown L.A. via Ventura Blvd. On Ventura Blvd the service only made limited stops. Replaced by Metro Rapid 750, with the Metro Red Line replacing the express service.

426 - San Fernando Valley - Sherman Way - Mid-Wilshire Express

Line 426 was renumbered 363 June 26, 2005; the express service was canceled June 29, 2003 (it had been realigned to serve North Hollywood Station June 26, 2000 and all service was cutback to there three years later, with the Metro Red Line replacing the express service)

427 - Ventura Freeway Express-Downtown L.A.

Replaced by Metro Rapid 750, with the Metro Red Line replacing the express service.

429 - Los Angeles - Sunset Blvd. Express

Line 429 was canceled June 25, 2000, with the Metro Red Line replacing the express service.

434 - Union Station - Patsaouras Transit Plaza - Santa Monica - Malibu Express

Line 434 was renumbered 534 in December 18, 2005

436 - Downtown L.A. - Venice Boulevard - Ocean Park Express

Line 436 was canceled June 3, 2001. Alternative is Metro Local 33 and 333

462 - Los Angeles - Santa Fe Springs - Norwalk - Cerritos - Hawaiian Gardens Express

Line 462 was renumbered 362 October 25, 1998 and then was renumbered 62 in December 18, 2005

466 - Downtown L.A.- Downey - La Mirada-Park and Ride Express

Line 466 was canceled June 3, 2001

470 - Los Angeles - Whittier - La Habra - Brea Mall Express

Line 470 was canceled October 25, 1998

471 - Los Angeles - Whittier - Puente Hills Mall Express

Line 471 was canceled February 1, 2004

483 - Downtown Los Angeles - Altadena via Fair Oaks Avenue

Line 483 provided service from Downtown Los Angeles to Altadena, mainly on Fair Oaks Avenue. It followed the same route as Line 485 from Downtown Los Angeles to Fremont Avenue and Huntington Drive in South Pasadena. Line 483 was canceled in June 2003 and the Fair Oaks Avenue portion was replaced by Lines 260 and 361 (Line 361 replaced by Metro Rapid 762 on June 29, 2008).

491 - Los Angeles - El Monte - Sierra Madre Express

Line 491 provided service from Downtown Los Angeles to Sierra Madre via El Monte Busway Station. It operated as an express from Westlake/MacArthur Park station through Downtown Los Angeles and El Monte Busway until El Monte Busway Station. From the El Monte Station the route operated as a local route making all stops along Santa Anita Avenue. The route number was retired as a result of the opening of the Metro Gold Line and interlined with the 487, this practice was done during the weekend service for a number of years. In 2006, the 487 split into two routes, the 487 still running from Sierra Madre to Downtown while the 287 operated the local Santa Anita Avenue service.

497 - Downtown L.A. - Pomona - Montclair Park-n-Ride Express

Line 497 was canceled June 11, 2001. Service is now provided by Foothill Transit 699 and Silver Streak

522 - Reseda Blvd. - Ventura Blvd. - Downtown L.A. Express

Line 522 was renumbered Line 240 in June 26, 2000 and realigned to terminate at Universal City Red Line Station, with the Metro Red Line replacing the express service.

561 - Van Nuys Boulevard - Westwood - Metro Green Line Aviation/I-105 Station

Line 561 operated as a limited-stop version of Line 233 on Van Nuys Blvd. then on the 405 freeway between Sherman Oaks and Getty Center and between Westwood and Culver City. Line 561 was replaced with Rapid Line 761 on Van Nuys Blvd. June 29, 2003 and discontinued south of Westwood. 576 - South Los Angeles - Pacific Palisades Express

Line 576 was canceled in December 19, 2004. Service now provided by Metro Express 534, Metro Local 105, and Metro Rapid 705.
