August 13 ,1829 -August 12 ,1886 ) was a U.S. Representative fromMissouri .Born in
Ayrshire, Scotland , Mclean Reared in Nova Scotia, Canada. Immigrated to the United States in 1842 and settled inPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania .He was employed as a clerk in a drug store.He moved to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1849, and in the following year toNew Orleans, Louisiana , to take charge of financial operations of the Lopez expedition to Cuba.He returned to St. Louis in 1851.He studied medicine and surgery.He was graduated from the St. Louis (Missouri) Medical College in 1863 and practiced in St. Louis.Mclean was elected as a Republican to the Forty-seventh Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Thomas Allen and served from
December 15 ,1882 , toMarch 3 ,1883 .He died inDansville, New York ,August 12 ,1886 .He was interred in Bellefontaine Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.References
