- The Kyoto University Research Centre for the Cultural Sciences
is one of Japan's leading institutions for research into the humanities and ethno-ecological studies. It has a distinctive school tradition, as heir to the philosophically-orientated Kyoto School, but differs from the latter in its broader cultural interests. Many of its leading scholars and graduates played a key creative role in the post-war reformulation of Japanese cultural identity.
