Barver is a municipality in the district of Diepholz, in Lower Saxony, Germany.

Geography

Barver is in the north of the "Naturpark Dümmer" and "Naturpark Rehdener Geestmoor" and south of the "Naturpark Wildeshauser Geest", circa in the middle between Bremen (north) and Osnabrück (south-west). The village is east of the Kellenberg and on the west bank of the Wagenfelder Aue, a south-eastern tributary of the Hunte.

History

Barver was first mentioned in 1219.

Town twinning

There is a town twinning with the French city Lezay since August 1973.
