Critical analysis
The title of this episode alludes to the
1957 movie "12 Angry Men", directed bySidney Lumet . There are also parallels in the plot: the Lumet movie tells the story of a jury in which only one juror does not believe in the guilt of the suspect. Similarly in this "CSI" episode, the eleven jurors are "angry" because the twelfth one is the only one to repeatedly vote "not guilty". Also,William Petersen (Gil Grissom) played Juror #12 in the 1997 remake of "12 Angry Men".Notes
Nick's case with the murdered sister in the barrel seems to be loosely based on the 1981 murder case of Charlotte Grabbe in Marshall, Illinois also resolved by analyzing tree rings for hydrocarbons.
