James W. Gilchrist (born August 1, 1965, Washington, D.C.), an American politician. He currently serves as one of three members of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 17, which includes Rockville and Gaithersburg in Montgomery County.

Personal

Gilchrist is the son of former Montgomery County Executive Charles W. Gilchrist.

He attended St. Albans School, Washington, D.C.. He graduated from Grinnell College with a degree in English in 1987.

Gilchrist was elected in 2006, coming in third behind incumbents Kumar P. Barve and Luiz R. S. Simmons.
