- Rock Court
Rock Court is an unpaved residential street located in
Cleveland Heights, Ohio , about300 feet east of and parallel to the part of Coventry Road known asCoventry Village . It was originally a north-south thoroughfare connecting Hampshire Road at its north end to Euclid Heights Boulevard at its south end, crossing over a hill of sedimentary rock. The bohemian tenants of the low rentduplex houses on the court decorated them with uniquepop art andabstract art mural s andfound art . In 1978, the owners of the lots on the southern portion of Rock Court evicted the tenants, rather than repair the dilapidated houses, so a neighboringparking lot could be expanded. Local activists attempted to preserve the tiny neighborhood by an unsuccessful “Save Rock Court” campaign. Most of the houses on the court were demolished by the early 1980s. The northern portion of Rock Court contains a number of houses and is a dead-end off Hampshire Road.References
