Frank "Bumper" Farrell was an Australian rugby league footballer and police officer. A forward, he played club football for the Newtown "Bluebags" from 1938 to 1951 and was also selected for the Australian national side in 1946 and 1948 in 4 tests.
Farrell played his entire New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership career (over 200 games) with Newtown. He became captain of the club, leading them to victory in the 1943 Grand Final against North Sydney.
Bumper Farrell, in a famous incident in 1945, was accused of biting off a portion of St. George player Bill McRitchie's ear during a match. He formally denied the allegation however.
In the 1946 test series against the Great Britain Lions, Farrell played in all three matches. He retired in 1951.
While playing football, Farrell also served in the New South Wales Police Force and in 2008, rugby league's centenary year in Australia, he was named at prop in a NSW Police team of the century.
