Golden Book Video

Golden Book Video

"Golden Book Videos" are a series of children’s animated videos with short stories based on characters and plots from Little Golden Books and other children’s literature. There are also videos made specifically for educational lessons. They were originally released on VHS Video Cassette. Most of the story video covers have the following text in their titles:"A Golden Book Video: Storybooks "Brought to Life".

These videos often featured a full voice cast accompanied with original songs (that sometimes had sing-along lyrics appearing on the screen), along with "needle-drop" library background music cues in the background. Original illustrations from the books were used, often being accompanied by cheesy limited animation effects (somewhat resembling Flash animation), often mainly to have characters' eyes blink during extended shots of them, or having them slide by or move up and down to simulate walking. Animation effects were provided by Animagination Inc. and occasionally by David Kallaher Inc., with soundtracks typically done by Studio Consultants, Inc., but sometimes by Tarrytunes Productions and Universal Recording Corp;, among others. Many scenes in these video adaptions often carried some original material that was not present in the original books.
