Roosevelt Union Free School District is a public school district in Nassau County, New York, that is the only school district in New York to ever be taken over by the state. [Hu, Winnie. "The Roosevelt district, which is in Nassau County and has 2,800 students, is the only one of the state’s more than 700 school systems to be directly overseen by state education officials, who intervened because of financial problems and poor student performance."] The School Board was terminated in 2002, yet in 2007 after five years of leadership by those appointed directly by the state education commissioner the state refuses to publish the schools report card. Reports of the graduation rate vary from a low of 3% to a high of 9%.

Roosevelt is the only district for which the state refuses, even with report cards an unprecedented six months late, to release, for the school under their direct control, to publish the schools report card, stating: "The New York State Education Department is reviewing the report card data submitted by Roosevelt Union Free School District.
