Ekta Kapoor

Ekta J Kapoor (एकता कपूर:Hindi) is an Indian TV producer. She was born on June 7, 1975, is the creative head of Balaji Telefilms. She is the daughter of the Indian actor Jeetendra, and sister of Tusshar Kapoor. Every Tuesday, she visits temples; and before hiring any actor, she checks their horoscope as she is fundamentally religious. Her serials usually follow one theme, and it is family values (or lack thereof) and emotions. Ekta Kapoor is the crux of repetitive jokes in India, because her stories are essentially similar.

Ekta Kapoor has produced and co-produced numerous soap operas, television series and movies. Her most famous television venture has been "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", which started airing on STAR Plus in 2000. Since then, the show has continuously been among the top rated programs on Indian television. Today, Ekta Kapoor dominates Indian television, producing more than eight television soaps for STAR Plus, India's leading general entertainment channel. At the 6th Indian Telly Awards 2006, she bagged the Hall of Fame award for having contributed immensely to the Indian television industry. Most of her creations begin with the letter "K" due to her superstition that it brings her good luck and fantastic reputation. Some of her creations are "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii", "Kasautii Zindagii Kay", "Kkusum", and "Kasamh Se". She has also produced five Bollywood movie out of which "Kyaa Kool Hai Hum", starring her brother Tusshar, has been the most successful. After Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, she also co-produced "Shootout at Lokhandwala" with White Feather Films, "Mission Istanbul" and recently produced "C Kkompany".

Personal Life

Ekta Kapoor is the daughter of Jeetendra, a famous bollywood veteran and the sister of a current bollywood actor, Tusshar Kapoor. Ekta has been seen around town with Taimur Bajwa, the co-producer of Kasamh se. It seems that Mr. Bajwa and Ekta are very serious and Ekta's father has been heard hinting that there is a marriage proposal in the works. Tusshar has been known to quote his sister and once he said, "Yes, my sister and that Taimur of hers. Looks like she's finally got a man!" Ekta has been known to have problems with her cast especially Simriti Irani. Ekta favours her 3 star players, Ram Kapoor, Ronit Roy and Prachi Desai though things between her and Prachi have cooled since Prachi decided to stop working with Balaji. She also maintains a close friend ship with actress Anita Hassanandani,Scriptwriter Gayatri Gill and Creative Director Nevideta Basu who form a part of her close circle of friends.
