Bouraq Indonesia Airlines

Bouraq Indonesia Airlines was an airline based in Jakarta, Indonesia. It operated regional and international services. Its main bases were Surabaya Airport, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta, with a hub at Sepinggan International Airport, Balikpapan. Bouraq ceased scheduled operations in July 2005 and issued staff termination notices March 2006 after prolonged financial problems and successive failures to seek new investors. Fact|date=March 2007

History

The airline was established in April 1970. It was formed as a private airline corporation by Jarry Albert Sumendap and is wholly owned by the Sumendap family [Flight International 27 March 2007] , as is Bali Air. Bouraq ceased operations in July 2005 and Bali Air in March 2005 after prolonged financial problems.

Services

Bouraq Indonesia Airlines operated services to eastern parts of Indonesia, linking major points in Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, Bali, the Nusa Tenggara Islands. It also served international destinations in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and the Philippines.

As of August 2006 the Bouraq Indonesia Airlines fleet included [Flight International, 3-9 October 2006] :
