He Xuntian

He Xuntian (何训田) (born in 1953 in Suining, Sichuan Province) is a modern Chinese composer and also a music composition professor at Shanghai Conservatory of Music. By age eight, he has been studying music theory by himself and composition follows suit. In 1982, he graduated from the Composition Department of the Sichuan Conservatory of Music. He created "Method of Musical Composition" and became the first Chinese composer to compose with one's own music theory.

He is famous for his compositions done for Dadawa, whose breakthrough is "Sister Drum" - a surprise international bestseller that sold more than 2 million copies. He had been collecting Tibet music for twenty years and this heavily influenced his compositions.
