Unlike many regions in the Americas, Argentine ethnography is characterized for having a major percentage of European descendents. The most common ethnic groups are Italian and Spaniard. There are also significant German, Polish, French, and Slavic populations.
After the regimented Spanish colonists, waves of European settlers came to Argentina from the late nineteenth to mid-twentieth centuries. Major contributors included Italy (initially from
