Amazon River from theCapim River to theUcayali River and at least the lower reaches of Amazonian tributaries such as the Rio Negro andMadeira River . It also can be found from theOrinoco River basin. "P. flavipinnis" grows to a length of about 34
centimetre s (14 in) SL. There are three pairs of barbels, one pair maxillary and two pairs under the chin. This species has a highly variable coloration.Ecology

"P. flavipinnis" is a food fish. In central
