Daewon Song was first sponsored by Sporting Ideas in Gardena, California. Later, he became sponsored by World Industries. He appeared in their 1992 video titled Love Child. After nine years with World Industries, Song left in 1999 to start his own company called Deca Skateboards. Deca closed after three years citing failure to grow. Song then went on to start Almost Skateboards with Chris Haslam, Rodney Mullen, Cooper Wilt, and Vet-Zidpn.[1] In 2006, he was named Thrasher's Skater of the Year.

Song has made several appearances as a playable character in video games such as Grind Session and the Tony Hawk series of games. He remained a playable character in each iteration of the Tony Hawk series starting with Tony Hawk's American Wasteland and continuing until Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, with the exception of Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam. He also appears in the game Tony Hawk: Ride. He is credited with the first hardflip on film. Song's latest video part, "New Year's Dae", debuted on 1.11.11 through The Berrics website. [2]
