"Sawaal" is a Hindi film produced by Yash Chopra and directed by Ramesh Talwar. the film was released in 1982. The music composed in the film was by ace music director Khayyam and the lyrics were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Despite an all-star cast, one of the greatest producers and overall support of the masters in the field, it did not succeed at the box office.

The film starred Sanjeev Kumar (as Seth Dhanpath Rai), Waheeda Rehman, Shashi Kapoor (as Ravi Malhotra), Poonam Dhillon (as Sonia), Randhir Kapoor (as Vicky), Swaroop Sampat and Prem Chopra.

Plot

Seth Dhanpath Rai (Sanjeev Kumar) is the country's most powerful smuggler who is surrounded by his fortress of power and money. Then one fine day, his daughter Sonia (Poonam Dhillon) falls in love with Ravi Malhotra (Shashi Kapoor), who is a police officer and wants to marry him. Dhanpath Rai very soon realizes that his son Vicky (Randhir Kapoor)also has taken a path that goes against the one he walks he engages with a pretty but poor girl Swaroop sampat. Now the question begins to haunt Seth Dhanpat rai that What is more important? His children's happiness or what he is which gives him so much power and money.Dhanpath Rai's question comes answered before it's too late and the good wins over ill. Like this Seth Dhanpath Rai find's true wealth in his life.

Sawaal is a powerful confrontation of life's greatest motivating forces - self against selflessness, love against power, good against evil - presented in great performances by acting legends like Sanjeev Kumar, Waheeda Rehman and the rest of cast and supported by Khayyam's music.
