"Webs" is a 2003 science fiction and horror Television movie, produced by the Sci-Fi Channel, starring Richard Greico and Kate Greenhouse. It was filmed in Toronto.

Plot

Four electricians, Dean, Junior, Ray and Shelly, are sent down into an abandoned building which is about to be demolished to turn off the power. They find a difference in the plans for the building and the actual size. They break down a door and discover and old laboratory. In this laboratory, they electricians find a nuclear generator, which is giving power to a device on the floor. Shelly fiddles around with some wires in the nuclear generator and it sets off an alarm. Ray panics and Dean tries to get to him, but trips over and activates the device on the floor. A white light appears above the portal and Dean falls in. Junior goes in after him while Ray and Shelly read a journal left behind by the researchers. Dean and Junior appear outside in a deserted and web covered Chicago. Dean goes off to have a look around, while Junior waits for the others. Shelly,reading the journal, realizes that the researchers were attempting to make a gateway to a parallel universe. Shelly leaves a note for any other people who find the lab in case they don't come back and then he and Ray step through the portal.

Finding no one on the other side of the portal, Ray and Shelly set off and get a fright when Junior leaps out. Junior leads them to a broken down armored car, with millions of dollars in the back. Junior, Ray and Shelly start celebrating, while Dean comes running back armed with a block off wood. Junior suddenly says "Guys" and steps forward with a claw in his stomach. The person-creature behind extracts his claw and bites Junior on the neck. Junior dies and more of the creatures attack the others. A group of humans save the electricians and kill the creatures. Ray starts having hysterics and runs off. One of the creatures attacks, but Ray is saved by Dean who stabs the creature with a pole. The group races off, just in time before a massive spider eats one of the female survivors. Ray and Shelly make it through the portal, but Dean stays behind to help one of the survivors. Dean races back to the portal site, but it has closed, leaving him trapped. On Shellys and Rays side, the nuclear generator shorts out the portal. Shelly starts trying to fix it, while Ray goes off to call the Army.

The survivors mention something about a marking, and they bring Dean into the safehouse. There they meet Crane, who looks at Deans tattoo and holds a knife to his throat. A female survivor, Elayna, insists that Dean come with them to see "The Old Man". She blindfolds him and they set out to they're base. Back on Shellys side, Ray comes back saying that the Army, the National Guard, the cops, they all believed that he was insane and refused to send anyone. He did however come back with a small arsenal of shotguns and handguns. Crane steers Dean towards the base and presents him to the Old Man. The Old Man, revealed to be Dr Richard Moreli, the inventor of the portal who got trapped here 30 years ago. He asks about the portal. Dean informs him that Shelly is on the other side fixing it and that he probably has half the U.S Military helping him. It is revealed that when Moreli opened the portal 30 years ago, it let in the giant spider queen, who proceeded to enslave or consume most of the human race.

Elayna reveals that the soldiers used to be normal people, but the Spider Queens venom strips away all the victims free-will, making them powerless to do anything but what she wants them to do. Also, if she manages to turn any of the survivors, the first thing they do is bring the rest of the soldiers to where they're base is. The survivors go out hunting for food, and they come across the base of another group, but find it empty and bloodstained. They leave the base, and the Spider Queen is revealed to be watching them. They get out of the base, and start to hear gunshots. Thinking its the army, they set off for the portal, only to find Shelly and Ray wielding shotguns. The survivors bring them back to the base and Shelly and Moreli start working on building a new portal. Ray asks Dean what they're going to do about the money they discovered earlier, Dean says that hes going to forget this conversation as its stupid to risk they're lives over a few bucks.

The lookouts spot creatures in the building and they go after them. Dean and Ray stay behind to defend Shelly and Moreli. Dean gets impatient and goes off to help, leaving Ray alone. Dean, Crane and Elayna, meet up and race for Moreli, but find Ray with a broken leg on top of a corpse and Moreli and Shelly missing. The three set out for the Queens lair, while Ray stays behind to build traps. The three pass through the food chamber of the Lair and grab Moreli, but find that Shelly has been bitten. Shelly grabs Deans gun and holds it to his head, telling them to go. The four race back to the base, while Shelly comes face to face with the Queen. Shelly tries to shoot her, but hes too far gone. He leads the queen and her army to the base, where the creatures kill all the survivors and Crane kills all of the army but Shelly and the Queen. Crane collapses of blood loss, and Moreli leaves the makeshift lab to go out to him. Crane dies in his arms, and then the Queen leaps down and kills Moreli. Shelly enters the lab, turning off the power. Dean tries to get through to him, but fails and ends up killing him. Dean and Elayna work hurriedly on the portal, and are just about to get it up and running when the Queen enters. Dean grabs the last two wires to connect and connets them to the Queen. The current starts moving between the two and the Queen gets electrocuted. The portal opens and Dean and Elayna jump through. The strain on the power system blows it up, taking the Queen with it.

Dean and Elayna wake up on a beach, and share a kiss, just before a large flying animal attacks, and presumably eats them.
