The Chapel (Ohio)

The Chapel (Ohio)

The Chapel is a large non-denominational church with campuses in Akron and Green, Ohio. Founded in 1934, The Chapel is notable for its size and its location near downtown Akron and adjacent to the University of Akron. The Green Campus is located approximately 12 miles south of Akron, in Green, Ohio on Raber Road, and opened in June, 2003. Currently, The Chapel is one of the largest churches in Ohio. Each weekend nearly 8,000 people gather to worship.

Although the church meets in two locations, it remains one church, with one staff, one budget and one purpose. Senior Pastor Knute Larson welcomed Associate Senior Pastor Paul Sartarelli in April, 2006. In September, 2007, the congregation voted and agreed upon Paul's calling as Co-Senior Pastor.

The Chapel lives by the mission statement - "To glorify Jesus Christ and do what HE would do, obeying His great command to love, and His great commission toward the world."
