- Kollsnes
Kollsnes is a natural gas processing plant owned and operated by
StatoilHydro on the southern part of the island Oøy inØygarden ,Norway . It processes thenatural gas from the gass fields Troll, Kvitebjørn and Visund with a capacity of 143 million standard cubic meters of natural gas per day.Operation
At Kollsnes the
Natural gas liquids (NGL) are separated out of the gas. The dry gas is compressed and then shoved by large compressors out in the pipe systems that transport it to the customers. In1999 it was decided that the gas from Kvitebjørn was to be landed at Kollsnes. The consistency of the gas from the field made it well suited to be reprocessed to upgraded products. The new plant that was built cost NOK three billion, with operations starting onOctober 1 2004 . From October2005 the gas from Visund is also landed at Kollsnes. With a capacity of 25 million Sm3 gas per day and large flexibility, the new NGL plant can process gas from new fields that would be built.Though the
Vestprosess gas pipe the plant at Kollsnes is linked to the plants atMongstad , where the NGL from Kollsnes is fractioned intopropane ,butane andnafta . The gas from Kollsnes is transported through the four pipe systemsStatpipe ,Zeepipe ,Europipe I andFranpipe to continental Europe and suppliesAustria ,Belgium ,France ,Germany , theNetherlands ,Spain and theCzech Republic with gas. The pipes are owned byGassled , operated byGassco while the technical responsibility is handled by StatoilHydro.External links
