The periodical press flourished in the nineteenth century: the [http://www.victorianperiodicals.com/series2/default.asp Waterloo Directory of English Newspapers and Periodicals] will eventually list over 100,000 titles. Nineteenth-century periodicals have been the focus of extensive indexing efforts, such as that of the [http://wellesley.chadwyck.co.uk/marketing/index.jsp Wellesley Index to Victorian Periodicals, 1824-1900] , Poole's Index to Periodical Literature (now published electronically as part of [http://www.paratext.com/19cm_intro.htm 19th Century Masterfile] ), [http://www.sciper.org/ Science in the 19th-Century Periodical] and [http://www.ripm.org/ Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals, 1800-1950] . There are also a number of efforts to republish nineteenth-century periodicals online, including ProQuest's [http://pao.chadwyck.co.uk/marketing/journalLists.jsp?collection=PAOcolBP1 British Periodicals Collection I] and [http://pao.chadwyck.co.uk/marketing/journalLists.jsp?collection=PAOcolBP2 Collection II] , Gale's [http://www.galeuk.com/jisc19century/ 19th Century Periodicals Online] and [http://www.ncse.kcl.ac.uk/ nineteenth-century serials edition (ncse)] .
