"Not to be confused with Robert Smith, lead vocalist of The Cure."

Rob Smith (born Robert Smith in September 29 1982) is a singer/songwriter and former street busker based in Ireland. In 2004, his home recordings got massive amounts of radio airplay in Ireland. He has performed at some of the most prestigious venues around Ireland and Europe. His musical influences include the Stone Roses and Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher and has been favourably compared to these artists in Irish press, both magazines and newspapers. Inspired by Paul Weller's 2001 acoustic tour, he almost always plays his gigs solo and acoustic despite his recorded music being a full band electric sound.

Rob Smith said in a radio interview in 2007 that he rejected a record deal with a "well known UK based record label". He has never explained his reasons for this. He currently releases material under his own "Cocklebob Recordings" label. Rob Smith surprised thousands of festival go-ers by performing admirally while acting Cressa, a spare member of the Stone Roses in his good friends The Stone Roses Experience's slot at the Witnness Festival in 2003.

To date, he has released "Out In The Sunshine", "Stand Up" and "So Many So Near" all as download-only singles in support of his album Throwing It All Away on the "Cocklebob Recordings" label.
