Sean Hayes (musician)

Sean Padrick Hayes is an American singer-songwriter.

Born on August 27, 1969 in New York City, a few years later the Hayes family moved to North Carolina. Sean began playing traditional American and Irish music with a band called the Boys of Bluehill. He traveled the south, from the Black Mountain Music festival (LEAF Festival) in the Blueridge Mountains down to Charleston, South Carolina and eventually found his way to San Francisco.

Sean Hayes has lived in San Francisco since 1992, he has released five independent records, appeared on NPR's All Things Considered, KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic, and WFUV's Whole Wide World with Rita Houston. He is a frequent guest of the acclaimed Los Angeles Largo (nightclub) and has played musicians such as Jolie Holland, Ara Anderson, Etienne de Rocher, Todd Roper, Rob Reich, Shahzad Ismaily and Ches Smith.

Hayes' music gained additional exposure through the re-mix of his song "Rattlesnake Charm" by Mark Farina and Stephane Pompougnac on Hôtel Costes, Vol. 8. His song "3 A.M." is also featured on the soundtrack for the television show Kyle XY and his song "A Thousand Tiny Pieces", performed by The Be Good Tanyas, has appeared on the television show Brothers & Sisters (2006 TV series). In addition, his song "Turnaroundturnmeon" is part of , an album curated by Natalie Portman to benefit the anti-poverty organization FINCA. Hayes has also recently recorded a duet with Aimee Mann, released on her new album Smilers (Aimee Mann album).
