Alejandra Guzmán , Reyli, and Kalimba.Pop success
The group's name came from a friend's idea of calling the group "Camila" because it means "close to God". Their first single, "Abrázame" became a major airplay success upon its release. The song was played in the radio stations before the group even chose a name for themselves.
It would go on to reach the Mexican Top 10 and "U.S. Latin" Top 30, largely helped by its massive pop airplay.
In late 2006, the group was nominated for "Best New Artist" at the Premios Lo Nuestro. In December, they announced their nominee to Premios Lo Nuestro and won two out of the two they were nominated in.
The follow-up to their debut single would be "Coleccionista de Canciones", which was used as the theme song for the
Mexican telenovela "Las Dos Caras de Ana", starringAna Layevska . Radio airplay once again was key to its success and quickly helped the song reach the Mexican Top 3.The third single, Todo Cambió was released in
March 2007 . The song quickly surpassed "Abrázame" to become the group's most importantsingle yet. Todo Cambió succeeded in doing what its predecessor failed to achieve: reaching the top of theMéxico Top 100 Single Charts. The song knockedJulieta Venegas ' "Eres para mi " off the top spot holding its position for ten consecutive weeks, the year's second largest run by just one week. It also reached the U.S. Latin Top 15, the group's highest position ever, and has reached the Top 3 in Pop Airplay. As of
June 2007 , the album is certified Platinum and Gold, and it has sold over 150,000 copies in Mexico alone. The group is set to release "Solo Para Ti" as the fourth single in the U.S. and Mexico, where it has already peaked at 48.
