Posto Santo is a parish in the district of
Angra do Heroísmo in theAzores . The population in2001 is 967, its density is 43.5/km² and the area is 22.21 km².*Location:

*Altitude: 45 mPosto Santo was elevated to parish status on September 15, 1980. What is today the parish of Posto Santo was previously part of the parish of
Santa Luzia (Angra do Heroísmo) .This parish is relatively far from the ocean and its predominant economic activity is agriculture.
Its name is loosely translated as "Holy Post". This name has its origins in the Black Plague of 1599 that killed thousands on the island of Terceira. The parish of Posto Santo was spared and served as refuge for many of the residents of Angra do Heroísmo. Since then, it has been know as Posto Santo or "Holy Post".
