Harold Henderson Earthman (
April 13 ,1900 -February 26 ,1987 ) was a U.S. Representative fromTennessee .Born in
Murfreesboro, Tennessee , Earthman attended the public schools, Webb School atBell Buckle, Tennessee ,Southern Methodist University atDallas, Texas , and theUniversity of Texas at Austin . During the First World War served in theUnited States Army as a private and was assigned to the Student's Army Training Corps.He moved toNashville, Tennessee , and engaged in the banking business 1921-1925.He was admitted to the bar in 1926 and commenced the practice of law inMurfreesboro, Tennessee .He also engaged in agricultural pursuits.He resumed the study of law and was graduated fromCumberland School of Law atCumberland University ,Lebanon, Tennessee , in 1927.He served in the State house of representatives in 1931 and 1932.He served as judge ofRutherford County, Tennessee from 1942 to 1945.He served as associate administrator of war bonds for the State of Tennessee 1940-1946.Earthman was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-ninth Congress (
January 3 ,1945 -January 3 ,1947 ).He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1946.He resumed the practice of law.He was owner of Earthman Enterprises.He was a resident ofMurfreesboro, Tennessee , until his death there onFebruary 26 ,1987 .He was interred in Evergreen Cemetery.ource
