James Lawrence Hogeboom (
August 25 1766 -December 23 1839 ) was aUnited States Representative fromNew York .Hogeboom was born in
Ghent, New York onAugust 25 1766 , and later moved toPittstown, New York , in 1794. He moved toCastleton-on-Hudson, New York , in April 1802 and was a merchant. He served as member of theNew York State Assembly in 1804, 1805, and 1808. He served as judge of Rensselaer County 1805 - 1808. He served as member of the State constitutional convention in 1821.Hogeboom was elected as a Crawford Democratic-Republican to the
18th United States Congress (March 4 1823 -March 3 1825 ). Afterward, he engaged in the mercantile business. He died in Castleton-on-Hudson, New York, onDecember 23 1839 and is interred in Castleton Cemetery.External links
