January 17 ,1872 -January 13 ,1939 ) was a U.S. Representative fromArkansas , father ofWilliam Fadjo Cravens andcousin of Jordan Edgar Cravens .Born in
Fort Smith, Arkansas , Cravens attended the common schools, Louisville (Kentucky)Military Academy , and Staunton (Virginia)Military Academy .He was graduated from the law department of the University of Missouri in 1893.He was admitted to the Arkansas bar the same year and commenced practice inFort Smith, Arkansas . City attorney of Fort Smith 1898-1902.He served as prosecuting attorney for the twelfth judicial district of Arkansas 1902-1908.Cravens was elected as a Democrat to the Sixtieth, Sixty-first, and Sixty-second Congresses (
March 4 ,1907 -March 3 ,1913 ).He was not a candidate for reelection in 1912 to the Sixty-third Congress.He resumed the practice of law.Cravens was elected to the Seventy-third and to the three succeeding Congresses and served from
March 4 ,1933 , until his death inWashington, D.C. , onJanuary 13 ,1939 .He was interred in Oak Cemetery,Fort Smith, Arkansas .References
