William Fadjo Cravens

William Fadjo Cravens

William Fadjo Cravens was a United States Congressman (Democrat, Arkansas). He was born on February 15, 1899 in Fort Smith, AR. He was the son of Arkansas Congressman William B. Cravens. William Fadjo Cravens attended the University of Arkansas and the University of Pittsburgh; he also attended Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA, from which he received a law degree. After having served in World War I, Cravens passed the bar in 1920 and began a law practice in Fort Smith. He took the position of City Attorney in Fort Smith. Elected to the Seventy-Sixth Congress in a special election, he filled the term of his father, William Ben Cravens, who had died in office. William Fadjo Cravens was re-elected, and served in Congress from 1939 to 1949. He died in Fort Smith, AR on April 16, 1974, and is buried at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, AR.
