St. Abran (Breton for 'Abraham', also known as 'Gibrian') was a
hermit of the sixth century.He was born in
Ireland and with eight of his siblings traveled toBrittany . St. Abran and his siblings chose of life of devotion to God in the consecrated religious life. He lived in a hermitage on theMarne River , which had been given to him bySaint Remigius .Abran and his siblings are all considered
saint s for their positiveChristian influence upon theBreton people .Saint Abran's
feast day is 8 May on theWestern Rite Orthodox andRoman Catholic Church calendars.References
