"The Swiss Maid" was a 1962 hit for Del Shannon. It featured a distinctive yodel by the artist, popularly used in some country music of the time. The single only made #64 on the US Billboard Charts, whereas on the UK charts, it fared much better and made #2. It spent 3 weeks at the top of the Australian charts in 1962. "The Swiss Maid" aka "Fair Swiss Maiden" was written by country singer/songwriter Roger Miller.
